Life Cycle Assessment of Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Recycled Asphalt Pavement Production

چکیده
With the growing impact of climate change, there is an increasing need and obligation to reduce responsible greenhouse gases (GHG) in road construction as well. Using life cycle assessment (LCA) methods, several studies have already separately analysed individual parameters asphalt production process illustrated potential improvements terms GHG reduction. However, data most assessments originate from single sources databases, such can offer little validation against unreliable assumptions. For this reason, addition conducting separate at quarries, batch mixing plants, sites order collect energy material consumption with which calculate emissions, work relies on results multiple found literature. structure for environmental product declarations (EPDs) EN 15804, our are divided into different stages a corresponding modules. This allows systematic comparison products eliminates previous uncertainties regarding inclusion benefits beyond system boundary. The show dominance binder footprint advantage substituting virgin recycled material, well influence moisture emissions process. In evaluating itself, two sections traffic volume (and share electric mobility) were examined compared traffic-related over 30-year lifetime. We confirm that has substantially higher total (>95%); however, its regulation responsibility governments, industry only bring about own sphere seeking further protection.

Life-cycle Assessment of Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Irrigated Maize: the Life-cycle Analysis
The life-cycle analysis of this multi-institutional project concentrated on determining the greenhouse gas emissions involved in pre-farm, on-farm and post-farm activities involved in the use of maize for the manufacture of corn chips. When the emissions are all expressed in terms of CO2-equivalents (CO2-e), then pre-farm emissions comprise about 5% of the life-cycle emissions, on-farm activiti...
متن کاملGreenhouse Gas Emissions from Asphalt Pavement Construction: A Case Study in China
In China, the construction of asphalt pavement has a significant impact on the environment, and energy use and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from asphalt pavement construction have been receiving increasing attention in recent years. At present, there is no universal criterion for the evaluation of GHG emissions in asphalt pavement construction. This paper proposes to define the system boundar...
متن کاملLife cycle greenhouse gas emissions of Marcellus shale gas
This study estimates the life cycle greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from the production of Marcellus shale natural gas and compares its emissions with national average US natural gas emissions produced in the year 2008, prior to any significant Marcellus shale development. We estimate that the development and completion of a typical Marcellus shale well results in roughly 5500 t of carbon dioxid...
متن کاملLife-cycle analysis of greenhouse gas emissions from renewable jet fuel production
BACKGROUND The introduction of renewable jet fuel (RJF) is considered an important emission mitigation measure for the aviation industry. This study compares the well-to-wake (WtWa) greenhouse gas (GHG) emission performance of multiple RJF conversion pathways and explores the impact of different co-product allocation methods. The insights obtained in this study are of particular importance if R...
متن کاملSoil Greenhouse Gas Emissions in the Life Cycle Assessment of Cellulosic Ethanol From Crop Residue
Concerns about climate change and the increasing cost of fossil fuels have led to interest in the development of renewable biofuel pathways for reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The use of corn residue as a potential source of biomass feedstock for cellulosic ethanol production has been favored as cost effective. Previous research has shown that crop residue removal can cause a loss of s...
